“Resurgent Indian Media - Popularizing The Unpopular”

Years back in late 1700s Indian Media got its birth. Bettering the Print and Audio Media, Visual Media advanced in recent years to help India make its mark at world level. Today Indian media has ubiquitous communication wave with its strong global presence and ramified networks.

Dexterous in its own field, Indian visual media experts lost vision. What lead to this lost vision?
In my belief- The inclination of Indian Media in focusing the “popular sections” of the society, the glamor world and the business tycoons was evident quite often. In this race did they miss out the other aspect of their duties in firming their roots in the market? Obviously Yes, Undoubtedly Yes. But what did they miss out?

This biased modus operandi led to the fading out of showcasing the good works of India’s common man- “The Unpopular”. The result was expected and prejudged.

Until last 2years the thought was inactive. A thought of “Popularizing the Unpopular(the underprivileged)” which until approx. 2 years back was miles away from realities of the India’s talent in its vast diversity, India’s talent in its poor and the not so poor sections, abled and disabled and the underprivileged along with the “popular section(celebrities, business tycoons etc.)”

As an emerging economy, India needs to have a talent recognition system, talent upbringing system encompassing all sections of the society. It is never too late to choose the right path and the Indian visual media took a new step in realizing the importance of rewarding and popularizing the talent residing at the underprivileged level in our country thus a new beginning of the Indian Media- A Resurgent Indian Media.

Resurgent Indian media over last 2 years have laid emphasis on rewarding, motivating and popularizing the talent at underprivileged level surprisingly by combining efforts with the popular who were once the focus point of their cover story. This effort is evident from the “Unsung Heroes Award, Real Heroes awards, citizen journalist awards” hosted by some media channels.

Being in the niche state, the change to create a positive difference out of these thoughts and efforts is still miles away as lot more is yet to happen and not one but entire media needs to be one to bring this change. Indubitably, in my belief Resurgent Indian Media’s role in popularizing the unpopular is a great step to develop a reputable "Face of the nation".
